It's been a while. I like the idea of you making a life on the Bosporous, and I'm sorry I couldn't be what you expected. You look happy, and it makes me happy. People should never expect more of others than they do of themselves. My sister (Crystal) is taking my mother to Istanbul for her 75th birthday, to see the markets, and eventually to cruise the islands between Turkey and Greece. Every once in a while I think about life without scrabble, and I think of you as you are now, immersing yourself in another culture, tasting, smelling, seeing and hearing a different part of the human race. What are you feeling?
I have locked myself into fractured worlds; working for Rick (my brother) at juice creative inc. as a factotum (setting up files, putting in my 2-cents worth on the creativity, finalizing files and uploading to printers) and spending 25% of my time away from Cosmo & Reilley on tv gigs.
I have been to Ecuador to climb the volcanos (Cotopaxi yes, Chimborazo no ... too bad, since it's the farthest point from the centre of the earth), and flown, driven and walked to the highest point in Mongolia near the nexus of Russia-China-Mongolia, and ridden away on Mongolia horses with Ghengis Khan whispering in my mind.
I still struggle with the day-to-day mundanities, and wonder if somehow, by moving elsewhere, I would be free of it. But I realize my heart won't let me move until Cosmo and Reilley have passed on. The Himalayas speak to me.
I'm really just saying 'hi', but I want you to know you have made a difference.
Be at peace, Rebecca; be safe and warm and free.
Your friend, r&all
