April Nisan 2009: Mersin with Emrah.

August Ağustos 2009: Mersin with Emrah.

October Ekim 2008
: Diyarbakır, Mardin, and Midyat with Emrah.

September Eylül 2008:  Şeker Bayramı in Çanakkale, Troy, and Bergama with Carra.

August Ağustos 2008: One day in İznik with Kimby. Historic village with lots of really old stuff scattered around and a pretty lake.

July Temmuz 2008: Summer holiday, one week in the Fethiye area, staying at a friend’s apartment. Rented a scooter for three days, tootled around, ate great food, relaxed on the beach, wandered among ancient things, gawked at beautiful scenery, all in all a great time.

April Nisan 2008: I love that my birthday and Çocuk bayramı are in the same week, it’s always a good excuse for a little holiday. This year we visited Cumalıkızık, a historical village in the shadow of the Uludağ mountains. It was green and peaceful and just lovely.

October Ekim 2007:
Finally I’ve pulled together a few photos of Istanbul I took anytime between April 06 and July 07. I’m ashamed to say there’s only 12 (I left out the crap ones). I’ll have to start carrying my camera around more often.

August Ağustos 2007:

Emrah and I rented a car and drove into Anatolia (central Turkey). Here are some photos from the different places we visited.

Before the vacation, I had to say goodbye to my students. We’d been together for 8 months, and they were all terrific. On the last day of classes I remembered to get a few pics of me and my students at Vodafone Turkey.

April Nisan 2007

My first trip into central Anatolia was an unplanned one. Emrah and I were planning to go to Safranbolu, a cute little touristic city not too far outside Istanbul, and instead we ended up driving 10 hours to see Amasya, Emrah’s hometown of Turhal, and a really big cave. It was a holiday weekend, my 38th birthday, and a great opportunity for a road trip. (I was stopped twice by the police. More on that another time, just look at the pics.)
